Gov. Rebolledo melted down SA metal goods to trade for amber with Ais
When the amber-trading Indians demanded iron tools Governor Rebolledo made them from 60 quintals (6,000 pounds) of the presidio’s pig iron, plus melted down cannons and arquebuses. [Note 33: Anon. 11/20/1655.]
