Georgia was the northeast corner of Spain’s Border Frontier from the Caribbean to the Pacific
In the olden time the Georgia country was one of Spain's Northern Borderlands, linked by common ties with the whole Frontier that stretched from the Caribbean westward to the Pacific Ocean. At the very time when Oglethorpe was invading Florida [1740] and Vernon was attacking the Isthmus, the Viceroy of New Spain was urging the defensive colonization of Tamaulipas, and taking measures to protect the California coast and the Manila galleons against capture by George Anson.
