Pardo and Boyano explorations started myths of treasure in Carolina and Georgia
While Menendez hurried up and down the coast [1566], brave Pardo and Boyano explored the back country of Carolina and Georgia. They garnered little or no gold. But they brought back stories of treasure that circulated on the frontier for a century, grew bigger with each passing generation of yarn spinners, and inspired more than one later expedition to the Georgia interior.
