300 Indians led by English attached Mission Santa Catalina
Early in 1680 the storm broke across the Savannah. Three hundred Indians headed by Englishmen attacked Mission Santa Catalina. Led by Captain Fuentes, commander of the guard, the inhabitants rallied to the defense. Taking refuge in the monastery, for nearly a whole day they withstood a siege. Governor Salazar despatched a relief vessel with fifty-eight men, but when they reached Santa Catalina the enemy had retired.
