Padres and officials disagreed on moving Guale missions south
Cabrera now endeavored to remove the remaining Guale missions southward to the Islands of Santa Maria and San Juan. But councils were divided. The missionaries, zealous and unafraid, opposed the removal. Some of the Indians sided with the padres and others with the officials.
