The climax of Carolina’s greed was reached while Moore was governor
While Spaniards fought and protested, the Carolina Indian trade grew apace. Englishmen soon passed beyond the Chattahoochee to the Alabamas and Chickasaws.2 The rapidity of their advance was an index of the growing demand for Indian slaves. The climax of greed was reached while Moore was governor (1700-1702).
