French settlement at Biloxi bothered Carolinians
A new impetus was given to the traffic by the settlement of the French at Biloxi. Excitable Carolinians feared a French attack on Charleston. Some of them talked of fleeing to England; but the more manly favored a counter blow and a more aggressive trade policy.
