Zuñiga's fears were justified, for Queen Anne's War was now proclaimed in America. Governor Moore in person led the expedition planned against San Agustin. As he went down the coast he spread devastation. The three transplanted Guale missions were committed to the flames and three friars were captured. Thus it was that the Spanish frontier fell back another step, from the Santa Maria to the San Juan.
