Scattered Apalache and Creek tribes reassembled near San Marcos
Spanish influence was now strengthened by a new presidio at San Marcos (1718). Scattered Apalaches were reassembled, and new missions were established there. Some of the Creeks, too, moved south to live close at hand.1
