Montiano reported the failure of Oglethorpe's attack to the viceroy
On July 30, Montiano reported the failure of Oglethorpe's attack to the viceroy. He stated that the English loss was more than 150 men, that of the Spaniards only 16 (The viceroy to the King, October 15, 1740. A. G. I., 61-2-21).] Of Guemes at Havana he begged a squadron to protect the capital. Six small galliots were sent. As it turned out they saved the city.
