Oglethorpe said Chickesaw had traded with English since 1680
[Note 86: c.o. 5 :382 (11). Other English claims were more sweeping. In 1737 Oglethorpe assured Lord Percival that 'ever since the year 1680' the Chickasaw had taken commissions from the governor of Carolina. (Percival, Diary, II. 326)]
