SC spent 400# to repair the decaying Beaufort Fort
But the fort [Beaufort] fell into decay; in 1723 the assembly had to appropriate £400 for repairs to make it serviceable against Indian attack. For several years it was quite unoccupied. Then in 1727, after the burning of Fort King George, the invalid company retired to Port Royal.
