In 1716 James Moore had reached an agreement with the Conjurer that Cherokee burdeners should go down to Savannah Town to carry up all goods to the mountains. 28 [Note 28 Ibid., July 10, 1716.] The board then instructed Blakeney to send Hastings cargoes not to exceed £600 in prime cost, provided returns were received before more goods were despatched. 29 [Note 29 Ibid., August 11, 1716.] Invoices of these Cherokee consignments revealed the character of the trade.
