Moore negotiated Cherokee burdeners with the Conjurer
In 1716 James Moore had reached an agreement with the Conjurer that Cherokee burdeners should go down to Savannah Town to carry up all goods to the mountains. 28 [Note 28 Ibid., July 10, 1716.] The board then instructed Blakeney to send Hastings cargoes not to exceed £600 in prime cost, provided returns were received before more goods were despatched. 29 [Note 29 Ibid., August 11, 1716.]
Invoices of these Cherokee consignments revealed the character of the trade.
