Gov. Zuniga prosecuted a Spanish Indian who murdered an Iororo escapee
In a postscript to the affair, charges were brought against several of the armed Indians accompanying Florencia for brutally murdering three of the Iororos. The infantry captain denied that any atrocities had occurred, but the governor secured enough evidence to convict one of Florencia’s Indians of manslaughter and condemned him to six years’ hard labor in Cuba.
