Gov. Moore destroyed all but two Indians villages in Timucua and Gualeedit

Queen Anne’s War and the Florida Indians Queen Anne’s War seemed to deal the final blow to Spanish influence over the Indians of the Southeast. When Governor James Moore led his force of militia and Indians down the coast in 1702, he devastated all but the two villages of Santa Fe and San Francisco in the provinces of Timucua and Guale. Those few Indians who were not killed or captured or who did not express their allegiance to the Carolinians fell back to Saint Augustine. Here they huddled together in seven new villages established within a canon shot of the town. (Tepaske GSF)
