Moore had leveled 32 Indian townsedit

Moore’s two attacks seemingly delivered the coup de grace to 130 years of Franciscan missionary work in Apalache, Timucua, and Guale. By 1705 the Carolinians had leveled 32 Indian towns, leaving only a few Indians in the Saint Augustine area still loyal to the governor. [Note 11: FL officials to king 4/18/1708] As the war continued, more Indians deserted the Spaniards. (Tepaske GSF)
