Corcoles received cacique of the Uchizes warmlyedit

In 1715 bands of Lower Creeks joined the Yamasees in seeking aid and protection from the Florida governor. Chiscalachisle, cacique of the Uchizes, one of the first to lead a group into Saint Augustine, received a warm welcome from Governor Corcoles. Both Corcoles and Chiscalachisle made professions of friendship and smoked the peace pipe. Corcoles gave the chief many gifts and requested him to spread the word among other tribes concerning the warm reception accorded him in Saint Augustine. The next year Chiscalachisle returned, again seeking aid, but bringing the optimistic report that other bands of Lower Creeks would soon seek alliances with the Spaniards. (Tepaske GSF)
