Gov. Benavides proposed the viceroy pay all shipping costs for the situado
Governor Benavides had other suggestions. He wanted to relieve the Bishop of Puebla of his responsibility for administering the subsidy. The prelate, stated the governor, was too busy with his episcopal duties to oversee the situado. Benavides hoped that the high sheriff of Puebla could assume this duty and suggested also that the viceroy pay all costs of shipping the subsidy to Florida. [Note: gov to king 4/24/1720]
