Benavides said he needed legal aid to handle Nieto
When Governor Benavides was chastised for his mishandling of the Nieto case in 1721, he argued, in his own defense, that it might not have occurred if he had had a qualified legal counsel to draw up the litigation. [Note: Gov to king 3/5/1725]
