The king ordered the Bishop of Puebla to provide quality food for Floridaedit

Even royal pressure on behalf of the Floridians failed to improve the situation. In December, 1721, the king’s order to the bishop to purchase untainted, high-quality supplies for the Florida garrison accomplished little. [Note: king to bishop of Puebla LA 12/19/1721] The Puebla system simply did not work well. It had failed to provide a regular source of money and supplies for the Florida colony. Even royal prodding did little to remedy the basic defects in the administration of the subsidy. (Tepaske GSF)
