English withdrew from Fort King George
In the fall of 1727 the English withdrew their garrison from Fort King George because of the threat of a war among the Creeks and of a renewal of hostilities with Spain. The evacuation, however, was much against the wishes of the Board of Trade in England, who hoped to maintain their foothold in the “debatable land.”
