Several English traders were scalped near Fort King George
The next month a band of Yamasees and Lower Creeks proved that the fears of the border farmers were well founded: several English traders were scalped near Fort King George. Some of these raids came on the Indians’ own initiative, but others were sponsored by Benavides, who found the Indians especially useful in holding back further English extension in Georgia.
