Moral could only offer empty promises to the Indians
In Florida Moral was fully aware of the implications of this activity for his colony. In September, 1735, he reported that Oglethorpe had secured alliances with many Lower Creek tribes previously allied to the Spaniards and was agitating these Indians against the Spanish Indians in Florida. All he could offer the natives to counter the Georgians, stated the governor, were empty promises. [Note 48: gov to don Jose Patino 9/8/1735]
