In February 1737 Gerónima [Rodr¡guez], daughter of Gertrudis, was ill and feared that she would live only a short while. She lay sick in the house on the piece of land where she had been born and where her parents had lived.... “Who will take care of my children? Juan is only nine year old and Juana just seven. I expect that my husband will marry again and possibly bring his new wife here to live in this house, which will pass to my children just as it passed to me from my own mother.” Francisco Navarro, watched his sick wife and pondered the same concerns...
