Indians in SA rose to 400
The native population rose to nearly 400 at the beginning of the War of Jenkins' Ear, but the new refugees were as impermanent as the old ones. Governor Montiano counted barely 200 Indians in four "pueblecitos" near St. Augustine in 1743.
