Oglethorpe moved his men to Fort Diegoedit

Finally, however, on May 29 the rain stopped long enough and his men became well enough to move their belongings to Fort San Diego, Oglethorpe’s new headquarters in Florida. [Make sure to remember Espinosa’s carefree sharing of his fort at this moment of it harboring the enemy.] The transfer of supplies and men to Fort San Diego put Oglethorpe only 20 miles from Saint Augustine, close enough for him to begin laying plans for a sustained siege.
