Ferdinand VI raised the governor's salary from 2,000 to 3,000 pesosedit

Wage provisions of the dispatch of title remained the same until 1753, when Ferdinand VI finally granted the governor an additional 1,000 pesos. Since the accountant’s post had been eliminated in Saint Augustine, extra funds were available for an increase without putting a new strain on the royal treasury. For the most part, however, the governor considered himself poor paid, a seemingly chronic complaint among public officials anywhere. (Tepaske GSF)
