Gov. Solis reported the English were trying to set up a puppet emperor for the Uchizes
In 1754 with hostilities again imminent English Indian agents began stepping up their activities among the Indians. In July Interim Governor Fulgencio Garcia de Solis reported that the Carolinians and Georgians were attempting to set up a puppet emperor for the Uchizes. English traders, asserted the governor, promised the Uchizes arms and protection from other tribes if they would install the English favorite as emperor. He reported also that this was the first step in a new plan to invade Florida.
