The 80 families in SA had 2 to 10 cows each
Near town on the commons, the hidalgo’s family like all the rest was allocated land for growing maize, and after the six-month season his cows browsed with those of commoners on the dry stalks. In 1600 the 80 families in town were said to own from two to ten head of cattle apiece.
