Inflation in SA
Commodity prices did not rise evenly throughout the period. According to the correspondence from St. Augustine, different necessities were affected at different times. From 1565 to 1602 the price of wine rose 40% and that of cotton prints from Rouen, 170%. The price of wheat flour seemed to rise fastest between 1598 and 1602.
