FL Indians continued to trade with French visitorsedit

Pacifying the natives by trade was not effective either, for the Spanish could maintain no monopoly. For over 40 years the French continued to trade in Florida, and the Indians preferred them. In a single summer 15 French ships were sighted off the coast of Guale, coming into the Savannah River for pelts and sassafras.
