Father Francisco Carranco of the Inquisition exceeded his authority in Florida, in Bishop Las Cabezas Altamirano’s opinion, by imposing a second tribute for the support of the friars. [Note 111: Juan de las Cabezas Altamirano, Bishop of Cuba 9/4/1606] The details of this exaction are not known, nor how long it lasted.
