Three epidemics in 10 years hit FL Indians
The worst years were yet to come. Between 1649 and 1659 three epidemics descended on Florida: the first was either typhus or yellow fever, the second was smallpox, and the last, the measles.
...These were also the years of famine and of the Great Rebellion of the Timucuans, which left their remnants scattered and starving.
