Suddenly an event occurred which sent the Apalachicolas back to the Chattahoochee to live, and restored Spanish influence among them. It was a case of poetic justice. The Yamassees had been Carolina's chief instruments in the destruction of Spanish Guale. They now headed a widespread revolt against the English and returned to Spanish allegiance.
