By the middle of June the revolt east of the Savannah had been snuifed out, but not before two hundred Carolinians had been slain. The Yamassees now fled to San Agustin where they were welcomed by the ringing of church bells.1 "Account of the Breaking Out of the Yamassee War," Boston News, June 13, 1715 (Carroll, Hist.
