This tilt is typical of the decade. A few months after Pena withdrew from Caveta Juan Fernandez and a party of soldiers escorted to their homes the Talapoosa chiefs who had been to Mexico City. At Teguale Emperor Brimins, Chipacasi, and a delegation of Lower Creek chiefs, in formal ceremony ratified what had been done in Mexico. The celebrations were interrupted by a messenger who told of the arrival of John Musgrove and thirty Englishmen at Caveta. Brimins, Fernandez and Chipacasi hurried east and another factional struggle ensued. In the end the English were expelled and the Fernandez party withdrew.
