The excitement [of Jenkins’s ear in Parliament] made Oglethorpe's muster easy, and in July he departed for Georgia. At the same time Haddock was sent with a squadron to the Mediterranean. Spain realized that she had been duped by peace talk. She protested these new war preparations and revived her own. In America, Georgia and Florida again were likewise the scene of military activities.
