so why why did the Jews I know this is a loaded question but why did the Jews

reject Jesus at his first coming um and still even reject him today what

were they looking for the Messiah to do that when Jesus came they said this

ain't him so the first answer is just an easy blanket answer it was part of the predetermined plan of God you know Paul

said I I I want to Enlighten you Paul said in the Book of Romans to this mystery that a partial happen uh

hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentile has come in

and then all Israel will be saved so first of all we're just going to say this is part of God's pre-ordained plan

we don't understand his ways but let me go into the practicality now of why Jews

the Pharisees the religious leaders of Jesus day rejected

him because they were jealous so I'm just going to read if I could a few scriptures here to really paint the

picture here please so I'm inan John 11 at the at the raising of Lazarus from the dead after Yeshua raised Lazarus

from the dead we read in John 11:53 so from that day on they planned together

to kill him and they said what are we doing if we let him

continue everyone's going to believe in him and we will lose the religious leader said our place and so it's really

important to understand that what was at the core of the Jewish leaders rejection of

lose their place because remember yeshua's pointing at them he said these guys are like whitewashed tombstones they look good on the outside but inside

what happened these Pharisees of Jesus's day became the

origin of modern day rinic Judaism so

the Judaism of today is called rinic Judaism we can practice a Jews in large

measure the Judaism of the Torah we can't practice the Judaism of the word because the Judaism of the word had the

three foundations of blood sacrifices the priest who offered those

blood sacrifices and the place that they were offered which was the temple so foundationally Judaism from the tlra is

based on the the the priesthood the sacrifices and the temple that stood in

Jerusalem when the temple was destroyed in 70 AD which was a fulfillment of

yeshua's words remember the disciples asked him at the end of Matthew 23 and 24 there they said they're marveling at

the temple and Jesus said not one stone of that Temple is going to be left standing upon another because you did

not recognize the time of your visitation he said how often he said to his people I wanted to gather you

together like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings but ye would not behold

your house is being left to you desolate so when when when when the Romans came in and destroyed Jerusalem and the

temple in 70 AD that was the Fulfillment of yeshua's words his prophetic words of what would happen and when the temple

was destroyed biblical Torah based Judaism could no longer be practiced

without a temple you could offer sacrifices and without the ability to offer sacrifices there was no purpose

for the priest so the priesthood basically fell into the annals of History so in Judaism today we have no

Temple in Jerusalem where we can offer sacrifices we have no blood sacrifices that are being offered we have no

priesthood that's offering the sacrifices so what they did was in 90 ad

there was a counil called yavne and the Pharisees probably the grandchildren of

the Pharisees that called for Jesus's execution got together at this Cil and

they re invented Judaism they said we can't offer the pre

the sacrifices anymore so what do we do so what they did was they substituted

the sacrifices for Liturgy and prayer so today's Rabbi Judaism is all about

liturgy and prayer and uh included in that mindset of Rabbi Judaism is an anti- Yeshua

mindset actually part of the Liturgy that was added during this time of the formation of Rabbi Judaism around 98 was

a curse against sectarians and many historians believe

that this curse was specifically added to drive any Jew that believed in Yeshua

that believed in Jesus were driven out of the synagogue going back 2,000 years so this same anti- Jesus mindset that

the Pharisees that killed Jesus had because they were jealous was passed on to the Pharisees that invented Rabin

Judaism in 90 ad which is the foundation of Orthodox Judaism or religious Judaism

today so within religious Judaism today there's a mindset that every Jew picks

up by asmosis and that is that Jews don't believe in Jesus and not only do

frowned upon and discarded and it all goes back to these Pharisees and why did

they reject him because they were jealous that's an interesting phenomenon to realize most Jews today they never

they don't they don't have the opportunity to think this through they never read the gospels they don't know the history all they know is they were

racist Jews and Jews aren't supposed to reject Jesus and they have a sense that to believe in him is a shameful shameful

thing but they have no understanding of why they've just picked it up growing up in a Jewish environment in addition to

the religious Jews rejecting Yeshua because they were jealous there were theological reasons for example they had

a hard time that God could be incarnate that God could present himself in human form so that was a theological problem

they also beli that there were two laws they believe that there were the Ten Commandments that God gave Moses but

then they believe that God also gave to Moses all types of other regulations and

laws that he didn't write down but were communicated orally and this is where we

get some of these laws about Shabbat from so there's a number of different reasons that the Jewish people have that

they've rejected Jesus and I wrote a book called Lion of Judah and I go through all of that there I just wanted

to throw that out there so I just don't say one thing and someone to say well what about this this and this and this there is more but there are so many

things to cover today I don't have time to go through all the reasons that the Jewish people have rejected Jesus but simply to say there are some theological

How Do Jews Atone For Their Sins Without Sacrificing Animals?

sacrifices right so um I had the pleasure of going over to uh the Holy Land in 2022 November for the first time

ever I've only been once my wife and I both went along with a whole bunch of other people was a one of the best 10day

trips of my life just seeing the Holy Land I know you've been there many many times I'm sure but um you know we we we

experienced a Shabbat dinner with a jewi family um you know and obviously we knew

that there were no sacrifices but that's a question that I've always wondered is well hey if the Jewish people have

always relied on sacrifices for being atoned uh I believe

yam kapor right is the day of atonement uh I I'm assuming that's that's correct

but you know if if that's how they um um attone for their sins then how do they

really how can you just come and redefine it and just say well now we're going to get atoned in a different way

when the Torah the Bible or not the Bible excuse me the the their Jewish law

states that um that you have to offer these sacrifices in order to be forgiven or atoned for your sin that was a

question I've always wondered right right right yes thank you Ellen well educated Orthodox Jews because most Jews

don't even they don't know the toas so they don't even know that the the the

center of the day of atonement Yom Kor was about a blood sacrifice and the Lord said in Leviticus 17:11 for the life of

the flesh is in the blood and have given it to you on the altar to make an atonement for your soul for it's the

blood by reason of it's life that makes atonement but most Jews don't know that okay they're just raised it's mostly

cultural so they wouldn't even know enough to be aware that biblically

speaking atone sin is atoned for through the blood I mean I could go through the you know Torah and show this you know

from beginning to end it's just Foundation that's why I have such faith in Jesus you know it's his blood is the

answer there is no other sacrifice but the um what they believe what Orthodox Jews would say in direct answer to your

question those that are educated they would say well there they would point to a verse that says um um uh a sacrifice

burnt offerings and sacrifice I have not desired but a broken heart and a

contrite spirit so they would say it's not important that we don't have a sacrifice because we have a broken heart

and a contrite spirit and were saying these prayers M Psalm 51 so that's what they that's what they're ex that's what

they would say and let me let me share this that if I could just a couple little tidbits that are not directly

related but I think are important number one there you went to that beautiful Shabbat dinner you probably really

enjoyed it and felt the beauty of it is that true absolutely absolutely yeah
Why The Sabbath Should Still Be Observed Today

yeah I mean now I will say this I was I was very surprised um at how strict the

they I don't want to get you off of your your thoughts but I was very surprised of how strict they they adhere to Judaism and so guys just so you know

like um whenever I was in this home I noticed that uh let me see if I can

remember I noticed that they had like um some sort of tape that they would put on

the uh the refrigerator door to make sure that when they opened up the
12:54
refrigerator door that the light wasn't coming on and off because if they did

that that would be considered work um like so they taped and I think everybody

knows this you have a refrigerator you open up the refrigerator the light goes on you close the refrigerator the light goes off they were taking it so

seriously that they put tape on the little lever that would cause the light to go on and off on your refrigerator so

that I guess it would always stay on and so when they open up the refrigerator door it would be on and when it closed

it it would be on because if they're turning the lights on and off that was considered work and I was like wow I'd

always heard that you know they they took the the Sabbath seriously but but

this goes to the extreme once again when Jesus came he was like this isn't what

my father intended in terms of rest and Sabbath like you all are making up laws that are not even in your own um Torah

so um am I correct in that I mean some of the things that I saw there yeah yeah Absol absolutely yeah they um because

that would be against the command to make a fire oh on Shabbat so electricity would be making fire but there's many

examples like the one that you're describing so let me say in goodness and kindness to to my people to to my people

that there's something really admirable about about the seriousness to

which they take particularly Alan as you're saying about chabbat there's something beautiful about it and there's

something to be gained yes by receiving you know God's gift to mankind of having

a day where there truly is complete rest and you safeguard that day by doing all these things many of which are almost

comical for example they'll pre-cut their toilet paper because one of the what they did

was the Lord said um you know the Shabbat you shall not do any work so we would ask the question well what's work

you know I know I'm not supposed to work but what's work and so what they did is they recognized that they had to stop

building the Tabernacle on Shabbat so then they said okay well what kind of work went into the Tabernacle building

and so they came up with 39 different categories of work that went into building the Tabernacle and they and

they outlawed those 39 categories of work on Shabbat to this day one of the categories was tearing because they were

tearing you know skins and fabrics and so on when they built the Tabernacle so they took that and they now apply that

to like you can't tear the toilet paper because there's no tearing on shat so some of them seem you know almost

hilarious but I want to not laugh because you know what it's a beautiful

thing to have a day that's so protected from any type of work yes but here's the

thing there is a special Beauty and anointing on the religious Jewish people

today that don't believe in Jesus it's the anointing Allen that came upon the

Jewish people at Mount Si it's the same anointing as there but unfortunately it's kind of like if I'm

in Florida and I want to take a trip to let's say

um British Columbia and I have a connecting flight in Atlanta so I'm going from Florida to British Columbia

with the connecting flight in Atlanta I get on the plane in Florida I have a layover in Atlanta to get my next flight

to to British Columbia is that what I said British Columbia y then I miss that connecting flight it's like you know you

made some progress but you didn't arrive at the the final arrival so that that's

how you understand like the beauty that's on the Jewish people it's there it's real there's something we should glean from them and appreciate even

though some of it is is is a little comical like what we're talking about now but still I don't I don't want to poooo that because I think Christians

need more discipline in their lives yes yes it was a beautiful thing when we

arrived in uh in Israel on uh Shabbat we

got there on Shabbat on a Friday Frid evening and all of us were shocked that

the it's like the land was desolate like there was no cars there was no no that

mean like businesses were closed everything was like lights were off and we were wondering is this a ghost town

because there was no driving other than like the tourist bus and stuff like that and there was nobody out and our tour

guide explain yeah you know and we we were so tired from our journey we didn't even remember what day it was and they were like yeah that's because Shabbat

just just uh just began and so you know people are at home you know visiting with their family and I tell you my wife

and I uh Rabbi after after that trip we came back to the States and we said you

know what we aren't going to observe it to that obviously that scrutiny but we are going to establish a Shabbat day for

our family and since then Fridays have been our day where we take off from work

I don't work um and I tell you what it it is really truly what God Said in the Old Testament

about do you trust me enough to work six days and take one day off do you trust

that I can do more with those six days than you can with working with SE for seven days do you trust me in that and I

can tell you I've had to trust God in that because you know there's times when I'm like God you know what I'm trying to take Saturday and Sunday off for my

family so I can be present for my family and now my wife and you know she she's like hey let's take this Friday off as

well so we can have more time to ourselves and I don't want you to work cuz you will work and it's like so now

I've got like a 4-day work week and I'm like Lord can I trust you for me to work four days for you to provide for our

family when most other guys I know that are hustling they're working five six seven days but it's that faith and that

trust beautiful brother the principle of the Sabbath and the presence of God and

what you just said hit it on the head it's like what are the principles of the Sabbath that we can apply to our lives

today as followers of Yeshua as followers of Jesus so that we can receive the gift because Jesus said the

Sabbath uh that man was not made for the Sabbath Jesus said but the Sabbath was

made for man it's a free gift and it's a time to disconnect we have six days to

work but the seven day is a day to disconnect from that to rest to stop

being a human doer to just being a human being you know God created in six days

but but most most believers they just say that's all the law you know there's

no relevancy for that so they're working like you said 70 days a week they're on their phone 7 days a week they're

connected to technology seven days a week and they really never stop and it

really is to our own detriment because it will wear us down and break us and God has a remedy and that is to

repesent himself to us once a week as we take time just to sit before him and

wait on him and put those boundaries those edges around our life that we don't let anything in that's going to

disturb us from just being a human being to receive God's presence and to be
What Parts Of The Old Testament Should Christians Observe Today?

getting other ideas and things so uh we're going to go off script a little bit and I know you're good with that the

spirit's leading us um but um I know a question that my viewers have asked

again and again and uh I think it would be helpful is how can we as New

Testament Christians distinguish what parts of the Old Testament that we still

need to observe and which parts of the Old Testament are have been fulfilled in

Christ and we no longer need to observe them because um you know this is something that people question and

wrestle with they say well you know when the Bible says this in the Old Testament how am I supposed to know uh you know I

shouldn't trim the parts of my beard or I shouldn't make marks on my body tattoo marks which I you know obviously um I I

I believe that it's not really tattoo marks it's cutting making marks cutting for the dead and things like that but

but once again people see that stuff mixing different garments and stuff like that so how can we as New Testament

Christians make a distinction and say okay when I read the Old Testament this is how I'm able to filter out um you

know I think you know where I'm going we look at the Old Testament as you're saying alen we say we believe the entire

word of God so if we believe the entire word of God what part of the Old Testament is relevant for us today as Christians so

basically when you look at the law when you look at the law that God gave to Moses the law is um there are several

different uh dimensions of the law for example you have laws that pertained to

Israel only when they were living in the land of Israel under a king so obviously

those laws don't apply anymore where the Jewish people are not living under a king in Israel the King David is not

there right King Solomon is not there so those laws no longer apply there are also laws that involve sacrifices but

there are no sacrifices taking place anymore so those laws don't any longer apply then there are laws specifically

towards men then there are laws specifically towards Israelites or Jews and then there are other laws that

we call moral laws and it's those moral laws that we really want to focus on and

teach remember Jesus said do not think I've come to abolish the law and the prophets I've not come to abolish but to

fulfill or to fill full so what portion of the law is applicable for believers

that are following Jesus and being led by the spirit today and that's what we really want to hone in on as Christians

so for example uh there's so many different examples of this one of them alen that we talked about was Shabbat

there are principles of the Sabbath that I believe Christians can apply to our their life not because they're under

legalism of be but or because they're under the law but it's an opportunity for spiritual blessing I think of an

interesting verse where the Lord said in the Torah to the Jewish people the Israelites to build a

precipice which is like a little fence to build a precipice around the roof of
23:18
their home so you ask why would the Lord say that and does that have any application for me today well the reason

that he said it was because they lived in homes with flat roofs and they entertained on the roof so there were
23:30
little kids running around on the roof and everything else so God it shows how
23:35
comp personal and compassionate he is because he was so involved in in their in their lives he said build a precipice

around the roof of your home so so little kids won't fall off the roof and kill themselves you know break their

neck so we ask oursel well should we do that today well I mean I don't know where you

live some subdivisions they're not going to let you build a precipice around the roof of your home but perhaps an application would be like if you live

where there where it snows and gets icy and you have like a mailman or somebody that you know is going to be walking up

to your front door put salt down on your steps and Safeguard your property so

that's what we're looking for in fact I'm working on a book right now called a ancient wisdom for a modern world where

I'm taking the laws of the Torah that have application for believers today wow I'm getting that

book okay yeah so so guys looking at looking at what I call Timeless truths the different principles that uh we can

extract from the Old Testament I've even talked I've even heard people break it down like there's a moral law ceremonial

law civil law and you know the moral law obviously stands because many of those were repeated in the New Testament with

Jesus and um Thou shalt not murder and different things like that so they were repeated again um adultery things of

that nature uh but things involving circumcision you know you look at the New Testament you know Jesus say it's

your heart that needs to be circumcised not just your flesh and things of that nature and so um now uh I'm I'm throwing
What's The Difference Between Hebrews, Israelites, And Jews?

a whole bunch of stuff at you man hopefully you have time but um um okay so you you you mentioned something and

this is a question that recently came up in our community um we throw these terms

around Jews Israelites Hebrews we just throw them around interchangeably but I

remember doing a study a while back and there is a difference between the three can you just maybe if you could kind of

uh help our listen ERS understand um the nuances between Jews Hebrews and
25:33
Israelites and whether we can just throw them all together and just say well they all mean the same thing or or they they

all kind of came from um you know kind have have a different kind of starting

point okay very good question so let's begin with the word Hebrews because this is the first term that God gave what we

would consider to be today the nation of Israel so the word Hebrews the Hebrews

carries with the idea of those that crossed over so the Hebrews crossed over the Red Sea

they crossed over out of Egypt into the promised land so we have first of all
26:08
the biggest most um comprehensive term which would be the Hebrews the whole
26:13
nation that was delivered out of Egypt being called the Hebrews then God uh
26:19
gives them a covenant and the through Moses the Mosaic Covenant and brings them into the
26:25
land of Israel and so now what we have is the nation of Israel and the Israelites even though in the Hebrew
26:31
Bible they were still called Israelites in different ways but I would say most generally as the children of Israel

received the Mosaic law were brought into the land at this point we refer to them as Israelites they're living under

a monarchy there and then what happened was the uh the is Israel in the land uh
26:52
was not living according to God's covenant that he made with them through
26:57
Moses and in order to live in Israel in peace they had to live according to the

Covenant it was a conditional Covenant that God made with Moses and because they weren't living in obedience the

Lord brought nations in and drove them out and Scattered them to the Nations

and this is called the diaspora we see for example uh in the Babylonian diaspora we see when the Romans came in

in 70 AD and they were again dispersed to the Nations but what happened was by

the time that Jesus was had arrived on the scene all the tribes of Israel had

been dispersed out of the land of Israel due to Disobedience except for the tribe

of Judah which is where we get the term Jew from and Benjamin the smaller tribe and

so by the time Jesus is ministering he's ministering to the tribe of Judah which were known as Jews and so uh today we

just refer to the Jewish people as Jews uh but when you if you would take into account you know that we've got 10 lost

tribes you know if we brought all the tribes together they would then be Israel does that make sense yes yes yes

yes you're starting off with with with the with the largest denomination which is Hebrews yes and then you're kind of

zeroing a little bit uh the people that were in the land of Israel and then obviously the people who returned after

the diaspora and and or the Jews uh the tribe of Judah which was the larger of

the two tribes and then Benjamin was a smaller and then when Jesus came uh the people that he was ministering to were

uh Jews so uh that makes sense okay perfect perfect okay so a few other a
What Are Modern Jews Looking For In A Messiah Today?

few other questions here um this is probably another loaded one

but in terms of um Jews so they are they

obviously do believe in a messiah based on the Old Testament but

what are they looking for out of a messiah today because they don't believe

that Jesus in his first coming clearly was the Messiah but they do understand

as we know this Messianic hope that was present even when Christ came they believed that a messiah was going to

come and restore Israel and and do these different things but what what's

precisely are they looking for this future Messiah because they've missed Christ as the Messiah what are they

looking for this future Messiah to do and who do they expect or an him to

be very good so I'm going to give two answers and both are very I think important so let me first of all answer

from the religious perspective so you have a minority of Jewish people today that are quote religious that are

committed to the Torah that are committed to the form of spirituality

that is derived from the Torah those Jews are looking for a messiah to come

that will restore Israel to keep keeping the Torah which will in in turn bring

blessing to the entire world and to also bring peace and Harmony to the Earth and

this peace and Harmony involves Gentiles keeping what are called the noahide laws

there are certain laws that religious Jews believe that Gentiles are commanded to keep real simple things like not

drinking blood not killing things like this or like so so the noahide laws but they're looking for a messiah to come

they're not believing he's going to be God In the Flesh they believe that a potential

from a Jewish perspective let's just talk about why this might be important for us first of all we should consider

that when when Yeshua was baptized by John the Baptist John pointed at him and

the Israelite farmer would take the first sheath of the field of the new crop that came forth from the earth that

that those Jews in the upper room in Acts 2 they had already been celebrating this day for500 years before Acts 2 was
