In 1738, 50 men are given as belonging to the Oconee, in 1750, 30 men,3 and in 1760, 50 men.4 In 1761 we find "Oconees big and little" given with 50 hunters.5 There were evidently fewer in Hawkins's time, but meanwhile many of them had gone to Florida. (Swanton)
