In 1738 the Holiwahali were credited with 10 men,1 in 1750 with 15,2 in 1760 with 70,3 and in 1761 with 35 hunters.4 Marbury, in 1792, places the number of men as high as 110 (p. 435). In 1832 this town and its branch, Laplako, appear with a population of 607 Indians and 36 slaves.5 (Swanton)
