Such activity became so profitable that privateering increase, and in 1741 English prizes were a common sight in Saint Augustine harbor. On May 26, for example, Captain Pedro de Estrada entered the Florida capital with three English vessels containing cargoes of corn, pork, pitch, and tar. (Tepaske GSF)
