Yamasee occupied the Nombre Dios mision in St. Augustine
The name Nombre de Dios de Amacarisse, which also occurs in the mission list of 1680, indicates still another body of Yamasee in that old station.1 Fairbanks calls it Macarisqui and speaks of it as the principal town (Note: The name ot this town helps explain the later "Yamacrau.") Barcia spells it Mascarasi and says it was within 600 yards (varas) of St. Augustine, which would agree with the known situation of Nombre de Dios.
