Gov. Corcoles proposed instigating a negro slave revoltedit

Although the governor may have realized the futility of calling for an offensive war against Carolina, in 1710 he presented one last plan to his superiors in Spain. Corcoles invisaged the possibility of a Negro slave revolts if he could lead an expedition against the English in Charleston. [Note 52: gov to king 2/28/1710] AN299 In fact this time he was so enamored with his scheme that he sent the Franciscan friar, Antonia de Florencia, to appeal personally to the king for help; but Philip V, who has having his own difficulties in Europe, refused to implement the plan.
