A SA officer accused Moral of illegal trade with the Englishedit

An infantry officer, Lamberto Benedit Horruitiner, charged Moral with beginning an illicit trade with the English. [Note: Horruitiner to gov of VC 5/3/1735] Seven Franciscans bore out this accusation when they indicated that only English goods could be purchased in the shops of Saint Augustine. Compounding the offense, Moral had evidently allowed Englishmen to walk about the town freely, surveying the fortifications and spreading Protestant heresies. AN361 At the same time, Moral was himself selling English goods at high profits. But this was not all. (Tepaske GSF)
