Old Tamali had 12 men and new Tamali had 26 menedit

The Spanish census of 1738 includes two Tamali towns—old Tamali (Tamaxle el viejo) and new Tamali (Tamaxle nuevo), the first with 12 men, the second with 26.8 The latter, however, was probably in the main a Sawokli settlement.7 The French estimate of 1750 mentions only one town of 10 men.3 No further reference to the population of this town appears until we come to Young's enumeration of the Seminole towns included in Morse's report, where the total population appears as 220.8 (Swanton)
