The Yamacraw population declined after Tomochichi died
Tomochichi died October 5, 1739,2 and the Yamacraw population declined rather than increased. After a time they moved to another situation later known as New Yamacraw,2 but ultimately those that were left probably retired among their kindred in the Creek Nation, and we may conjecture that they united with the Creek band of Yamasee mentioned above.
