- Rinse and repeat.
At the moment of seeking comfort-- food, a drink, a smoke, doom scrolling, TV binging--catch that trigger. Trigger. Stand still. Find it. Find the trigger that made you reach for a comforter. A relationship? Loneliness? Financial fear? An enemy? Find it. Capture it. Write it down and put it in your pocket so it can't escape again.
I just made do with whatever I could find in my kitchen. It turned into a keeper. Simply by the luck of the leftovers, these include sliced cucumber, shredded carrots, chopped walnuts, and crumbled feta, using hummus as glue and dijon mustard for flavor. All wrapped in a collard leaf. So delicious. There are six photos of me eating this for lunch at the picnic table overlooking Guana River at the GTM Reserve. I have binoculars to see the birds.

It started when Aunt Sharon taught me learning from Margie, to add sugar-free orange Jello packet to a tub of unsweetened Greek yogurt. It tastes just like creamsicle.
After 5 years of that I started experimenting with other ones. Other flavors of Jello packets.
When I didn't have any Jello on hand, I just looked for anything in my cabinet. Here's the varieties that have been great:
Honey + vanilla
Honey + vanilla + Coconut extract
Slice of boiled egg into equal rounds. Promote an egg's slicer from Amazon.
Squish up an avocado with chili lime seasoning. Promote the avocado bowl and the seasoning on Amazon.
One small avocado works perfectly for one boiled egg.
Scoop rounded dollops onto each slice egg slice.
Learn this and teach it.
I am so accustomed to eating through any need for energy that I have trained my body to crash without it. When studying on intermittent fasting in an effort to protect my teeth from constant food, I learned that the body can be trained to use fat for energy instead of waiting for food. I think that's what ketosis is. I now plan my days that require a lot of energy around two giant meals. One before the event and when after the event, and then fast for 16 hours afterwards to train my body toward ketosis.
That also gives my teeth 16 hours to rest, hydrate, and remineralize from the nutrients I eat. It also gives my receding gums a break from constant brushing.
That also motivates me to pack as many nutrients in those two meals as I can to prevent cravings and energy crashes.
Don't be a sugarburner.
Makes up a half Shaker of cinnamon and stevia. When eating fruit, cut it into bite-size pieces and sprinkle it with the cinnamon sugar. Eat it with a fork. It is almost like eating dessert. Especially if you warm it up a little.
In fact, if fruit feels too tart to be decadent, warming. It pull out some of the hydrogen ions that make it acidic. Grill pineapple on both sides to take its tartness away. Berries like raspberries can be stewed until they are no longer tart.
